Light My Fire

One thing I can't wait to do when we move into our new house is light a fire. I have always dreamed of having a house with a fireplace and our new house has three beautiful old fireplaces. There is one in the lounge room, one in the kitchen and one in what will become our main bedroom. My collection of vintage cane baskets will be put to good use as log baskets and I love the idea of clustering lots of candles on the mantel just like they have in the top image. I'm excited to think of the wonderful vignettes I will be able to create on the mantels...

A fireplace was second on the list of 'must-haves' (after a pool) when we bought our house. There's nothing like an open fire in winter, and I'm sure you'll use yours often, even if it's just for the atmosphere. Can't wait to see more of the new house, it sounds divine.

There's something so homely about a fireplace, and even more so, a lit one. Keep the home fires burning!

Hi, I just discovered your blog through the Laurel Hedge and I'll definitely be back for more. Yours is the first I've seen with a bright pink background - excellent.
I'm with you on fires, nothing beats it.

I have three lovely fireplaces in my house as well. One in the kitchen, one in the family room and one in my bedroom (which, unfortunately doesn't work - yet! hubby is working on it!)

You will LOVE them. My kitchen fireplace makes the room so cozy especially when entertaining. (why does everyone stay in the kitchen?)

Enjoy - I sure do!

lovely! one of the things i really miss is a fireplace - our last two homes had one and we loved them, but our current home does not. we've tried to compensate with plenty of candles, but nothing really replaces a fireplace. enjoy!

three fireplaces! how perfectly wonderful -- looking forward to seeing your mantel vignettes -- and such a great idea to use the cane baskets for logs

Oh, I used to have a wood burning fireplace in my kitchen and I loved it. It was so wonderful to light a fire early in the morning before anyone was awake. I cuddled my Golden Retriever and sipped my milky coffee. Crackling. Birds chirping. The odd frog and then ...Stillness and dewy silence outside....more crackling. A great memory. Thank you for reminding me. Congratulations on all your exciting news! You make me want to work harder! LPxo

My husband and I just moved into our new house in September, and the fireplace is BY FAR my favorite thing in it! How lucky that you have not one but three:)

How exciting for you. Our old house had all the fireplaces ripped out so the first thing we did when we moived in and renovated the loungeroom was to build in a new woodheater and nice mantle. I love it - it's the best part about winter and it keeps our whole house toaty. I'll look forward to seeing pics when you move in.

We have had a cold snap hit us in the Adelaide Hills this week Anna. MOTH's been madly chopping up the wood with his trusty chain saw & barrowing it up to the house. The Chimney Sweep is booked in for tomorrow, so sometime over the weekend, we'll be firing it up with gusto. You will enjoy yours on those chilly Brissie mornings. Tell Brad Santa may have to bring him a chain saw & block splitter this Chrissie.
